Position Summary & Responsibilities:

The position can be based in or around the Washington, DC; Boston, MA; or Salt Lake City, UT areas. Candidates must either reside in one of these locations or be open to relocating. These locations are essential for inperson engagement with internal stakeholders and key external partners.

The Vice President, Global Public Affairs & International Policy Engagement is a senior executive role within bioMerieux, responsible for defining and executing the company's global policy agenda. The role positions bioMerieux as a reference leader in infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), One Health, and health security. Acting at the intersection of public policy, scientific evidence, business strategy, and reputation, the VP drives high-impact international policy engagement, shapes public health narratives, and ensures policy outcomes that support patient access, system resilience, and long-term business sustainability.

  • Define and execute a multi-year global public affairs and international policy strategy aligned with bioMerieux's corporate priorities and public health mission.
  • Design, commission, and launch public health, policy, and health economics studies to generate credible evidence and policy proof points supporting diagnostics-enabled care models.
  • Translate data, studies, and scientific insights into policy narratives, position papers, and advocacy assets that inform decision-makers at global, regional, and national levels.
  • Lead initiatives to drive novel diagnostic valuation framework for innovative diagnostics, and design dissemination toolkits
  • Serve as a senior thought leader internally and externally, shaping the company's positioning on AMR, One Health, infectious diseases, diagnostics value, and health system preparedness.
  • Coordinate closely with Market Access teams to ensure alignment between policy positioning, value demonstration, reimbursement pathways, and access strategies.
  • Work in partnership with Communications to ensure coherent external narratives, executive visibility, media engagement, and thought leadership across international platforms.
  • Lead or co-lead the creation and animation of international diagnostics coalitions, bringing together industry peers, public health institutions, multilaterals, and civil society to advance shared policy objectives.
  • Develop and steward high-level relationships with governments, multilateral institutions, public health agencies, scientific societies, patient organizations, and think tanks.
  • Monitor global policy, geopolitical, and regulatory trends, proactively identifying risks and opportunities and advising executive leadership on strategic positioning.
  • Represent bioMerieux at major international policy forums, summits, and scientific convenings, and support senior executives in high-stakes engagements with policymakers and stakeholders.
  • Partner with regional public affairs teams to ensure consistent global policy framing while enabling locally relevant execution.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal ethics and integrity standards.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Master's degree required in Public Policy, Public Health, Life Sciences, Law, or a related discipline.
    • PhD or similar types of advanced degrees also accepted
  • 12+ years of overall related experience in global public affairs, public health policy, or government affairs
    • Trade/industry association or consultancy background is preferred
    • Strong existing network in AMR, diagnostics, or global health is preferred
    • Demonstrated global experience is highly preferred
    • Corporate environment experience is preferred
  • Desired Skills & Experience::
    • Demonstrated experience advising senior executives and shaping enterprise-level strategy.
    • Proven track record designing and delivering policy initiatives with measurable external impact
    • Deep expertise in global public health policy, diagnostics, AMR, One Health, and health security agendas.
    • Strong understanding of how public policy, evidence generation, and value demonstration influence regulated healthcare markets.
    • Ability to design and leverage public health studies, policy research, and proof points to shift narratives and inform decision-making.
    • Political acuity and ability to operate effectively in complex, multicultural and multilateral environments.
    • Proven capability to build and lead coalitions and partnerships across industry, academia, governments, and civil society
    • Consistently upholds and reflects the core ethical principles and values that bioMerieux promotes.
  • Travel Requirements: 40% (domestic and international travel)
The estimated salary range for this role is between $200,000 - $299,000. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
