Position Overview

Apollo is seeking a highly analytical and intellectually curious Research Associate to join the Apollo Thematic Investing (ATI) team. ATI is a cross-platform research and insights function designed to sharpen Apollo's investment edge across asset classes and strategies. The team operates at the intersection of macroeconomics, markets, technology, geopolitics, and long-term secular trends, and is AI-native by design.

This role is positioned primarily as research, writing, and investment insights role, with a strong emphasis on thematic analysis, market research, and investment-oriented thinking. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in financial markets, macroeconomic dynamics, and investment research, paired with exceptional communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear, actionable content pieces.

The Research Associate will support ATI in developing differentiated thematic perspectives across public and private markets. The role plays a critical operational function at the center of ATI's research and content ecosystem, supporting the development, editing, organization, and distribution of high-impact research and thought leadership. Responsibilities include drafting investment-oriented materials, helping manage the day-to-day execution of ATI content and research workflows, conducting thematic and market research, and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative inputs.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining rigorous research with strong storytelling and wants to work at the intersection of markets, investment strategy, and thematic investing.

Primary Responsibilities

Research Content and Communication

  • Draft, edit, and refine a range of ATI outputs, including thematic research reports, market commentary, presentations, investor materials, and internal communications
  • Translate complex investment and market concepts into clear, structured, and compelling narratives for internal and external audiences
  • Support the development of investment theses and presentations that effectively communicate views on emerging themes, market risks, and disruptive trends
  • Maintain high editorial standards, ensuring analytical rigor, consistency, and clarity across ATI materials
  • Assist in preparing research presentations and briefing materials for senior leadership and investment teams

Research Operations and Workflow Management

  • Support the coordination and execution of research workflows across multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Track research inputs, supporting data, and project timelines to ensure efficient execution and knowledge sharing
  • Maintain organized research materials, files, and supporting documentation across shared platforms
  • Assist in developing scalable research and content workflows, including the integration of AI-enabled research and productivity tools
  • Identify opportunities to leverage data analytics and AI-based tools to improve research efficiency and thematic analysis

Thematic Research and Investment Insights

  • Conduct thematic and market research across macroeconomics, geopolitics, technology, business cycles, and secular industry trends
  • Support the development of ATI's core investment themes and long-term research priorities across Apollo's investment verticals
  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative research inputs into clear investment narratives and thematic frameworks
  • Tie secular and market themes to potential investment implications and opportunities across asset classes
  • Analyze market data, economic indicators, industry trends, and company developments to support thematic research workstreams
  • Partner with investors and cross-functional stakeholders to gather inputs, validate research findings, and refine investment perspectives

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in investment research, strategy, equity research, investment banking, consulting, macro research, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, macroeconomics, asset classes, and investment concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous research and synthesize complex information into actionable insights
  • Strong business acumen and industry research capabilities
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas without losing nuance
  • Experience producing research reports, market commentary, presentations, or investment-oriented content
  • High intellectual curiosity with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree from a top-tier accredited institution, ideally in Economics, Finance, Political Science, International Relations, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Quantitative, statistical, or data analysis experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with AI tools, research automation, or data analytics platforms is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); strong PowerPoint and presentation drafting skills preferred

Pay Range

$175,000 - $200,000
