Description
Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for an Adjunct Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Studies and Geography at Hofstra University beginning in Spring 2027.
The Department is currently seeking candidates to teach undergraduate sections of our Introductory course in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The enrollment for this in-person course is capped at 32 students. This course cannot be taught remotely.
The Adjunct Instructor/Assistant Professor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Acting as the instructor of record on a contingent, adjunct basis in the Department of Global Studies and Geography.

Qualifications
  • A master's degree in geography or a closely related discipline is preferred. Applicants with a graduate diploma in GIS plus professional GIS experience will also be considered. Demonstrated academic expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is required.

Preferred Quals Summary
  • Ph.D. in Geography or related field is preferred.
  • Prior US college-level teaching of a similar GIS course is preferred.

Salary/Salary Range
$1,458-$1,711 per credit hour

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
