Ensure credit adjudication, control activities and related processes are conducted within a strong risk culture, focusing on emerging risks and within risk appetite.  Provide an objective oversight and effective challenge, enable capital optimization, ensure ongoing monitoring, and partner with business lines to develop effective strategy.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Risk Assessment and Rating Assignment:

  • Adjudicate and/or authorize credit requests up to assigned limits; make sound recommendations on larger and/or problem loans within the Bank's risk appetite and adherence to our policy and standards.
  •  Evaluate financial and non-financial risks for an accurate client risk profiling, challenge banking strategies and risk return over assets below defined threshold ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk assessment and rating assignment, timely monitoring changes in client's creditworthiness, and recommending adequate course of action.
  • Understand economic, political and regulatory framework and how it impacts the assigned portfolio. Recommending potential actions.
  • Participate in risk committees and deal forums, acting as an advisor partner for Banking.

Client Centric (internal/ external)

  • Play an integral role in the client relationship experience by collaborating effectively with Banking, providing feedback, participating in client's meetings/calls/field visits, when possible, to ensure a cohesive and efficient client experience while managing risk effectively.
  • To ensure adjudication process is achieved within the established SLA parameters.

Documentation, Data and Reporting:

  • Validate / supervise Team's validation of GRM critical data elements in credit systems which feed capital and provisions.
  • Drive / support innovation and digitize risk processes, improving accuracy of and speed of credit decisions and operational efficiencies.

Portfolio Management

  • Account Monitoring: proactive and ongoing monitoring of Early Warning Signs and sectorial/market trends, to ensure timely actions on assigned portfolio.
  • Work with Banking to ensure adherence to all compliance metrics of the loan portfolio is managed effectively within defined KPI.

Keeping the Bank Safe

  • Actively pursues / supports effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Team Management:

  • Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability, leading a client centric culture, provide coaching and an attractive value proposition for talent.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial analysis or credit adjudication.
  • Minimum Post Secondary Education completed in business or related area, and preferably a Masters degree
  • Skills in financial analysis and accounting, risk assessment and developing creative financing proposals demonstrating sound credit judgement.
  • Expert understanding of security documentation, legal ramifications and remedies is also necessary
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills as demonstrated by the management of a team of credit officers.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral) to converse effectively with line and corporate personnel.
  • Ability to make decisions, frequently in the face of uncertainty, and clearly communicate rationale for decisions.
