We exist to wow our customers. We know we're doing the right thing when we hear our customers say, "How did I ever live without Coupang?" Born out of an obsession to make shopping, eating, and living easier than ever, we're collectively disrupting the multi-billion-dollar e-commerce industry from the ground up. We are one of the fastest-growing e-commerce companies that established an unparalleled reputation for being a dominant and reliable force in South Korean commerce.

We are proud to have the best of both worlds - a startup culture with the resources of a large global public company. This fuels us to continue our growth and launch new services at the speed we have been since our inception. We are all entrepreneurs surrounded by opportunities to drive new initiatives and innovations. At our core, we are bold and ambitious people that like to get our hands dirty and make a hands-on impact. At Coupang, you will see yourself, your colleagues, your team, and the company grow every day.

Our mission to build the future of commerce is real. We push the boundaries of what's possible to solve problems and break traditional tradeoffs. Join Coupang now to create an epic experience in this always-on, high-tech, and hyper-connected world.

Role Overview

Coupang is seeking an expert to help shape and communicate the company's perspective on complex public policy, economic, regulatory, and geopolitical issues. This leader will serve as a strategic thought partner to senior executives, developing compelling persuasive narratives, op-eds, policy messaging, congressional engagement materials, and executive communications that support Coupang's business and policy objectives.

What You Will Do
  • Create and evolve compelling narratives that articulate Coupang's positions on complex policy, economic, regulatory, and industry issues in support of the company's public affairs and advocacy efforts.
  • Develop high-quality opinion pieces, speeches, talking points, briefing materials, policy statements, congressional engagement materials, media content, and executive communications.
  • Serve as a senior member of the Global Public Affairs team, identifying opportunities to shape policy conversations and strengthen Coupang's external voice.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Washington policy, political, and media landscape, including emerging issues relevant to Coupang's business.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and public policy developments to identify communications opportunities and potential risks.
  • Position Coupang executives as thought leaders through persuasive, audience-focused communications and strategic storytelling.
  • Advise executives on messaging, narrative development, stakeholder engagement, and external communications strategies.
  • Translate complex policy, regulatory, and economic issues into clear, compelling, and accessible communications for diverse audiences.
  • Partner closely with Public Policy, Legal, Corporate Communications, and business leaders to develop integrated communications strategies and messaging.
  • Conduct research and analysis on policy, regulatory, economic, and political issues affecting Coupang and its stakeholders.
  • Support executive preparation for media engagements, public appearances, policy events, and meetings with key external stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment across corporate, policy, advocacy, and public affairs communications.
Basic Qualifications

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across a variety of formats and audiences
  • Experience developing communications for senior executives, elected officials, policymakers, or public sector leaders
  • Deep understanding of public policy, government institutions, legislative processes, and political environments
  • Strong track record working with DC with key opinion leader audiences
  • Experience translating complex policy issues into persuasive communications
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority assignments in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the White House, Congress, federal agencies, public policy organizations, think tanks, or executive branch departments
  • Experience in the U.S. Treasury, State Department, Department of Defense, or comparable government institutions
  • Experience writing for Members of Congress, cabinet officials, governors, or senior corporate executives
  • Experience as a political, policy, economic, regulatory, or Washington-based journalist
  • Experience with top-tier national media organizations such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, Politico, Axios, Associated Press, or similar publications
  • Understanding of technology, e-commerce, trade, economic policy, regulatory policy, or international affairs
