DOTD is seeking to fill Engineer Intern Applicant positions statewide. Available across all Sections and Districts within the Office of Operations and the Office of Engineering, these roles offer valuable on-the-job training and hands-on experience for individuals beginning their professional engineering careers. These positions are ideal for recent engineering graduates or college students within 90 days of graduation who are eligible for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.

NOTE: This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position

NOTE: Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: The Engineer Intern Applicant works under close supervision from a higher-level engineer. Job duties may include the following examples: Apply elementary engineering skills to acquire practical experience for licensure Collect samples for laboratory analysis using special techniques Apply basic engineering formulas to routine calculations Aid in performing computations and analyses of engineering considerations Assist with inspection, construction, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This position will be filled by a job appointment. A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to 36 months.
