City of O'Fallon, MissouriFleet Mechanic I or Fleet Mechanic II – DOQStarting Pay:• Mechanic I: $27.28/hour• Mechanic II: $30.07/hourThe City of O'Fallon is seeking a skilled, dependable, and team‑oriented Fleet Mechanic I or Fleet Mechanic II to support our Fleet Maintenance Division. This position is essential in keeping City vehicles and equipment safe, reliable, and ready to serve our community.Major DutiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair City vehicles, equipment, and mechanical systems.Perform police vehicle build‑outs including installation of specialized lighting, wiring, and equipment.Fabricate parts, complete welding repairs, and perform needed modifications.Track and process invoices for assigned vehicles and repair jobs.Maintain and repair snow equipment.Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe, clean work area.Transport vehicles to and from contracted repair facilities.Maintain parts inventory and source parts from vendors.Complete required documentation and records.Assist with snow removal operations.Respond to emergency call‑ins and callback work when needed.Mechanic II Additional Responsibilities:Serve as a Quality Control Mechanic.Learn, assist, and lead efforts involving advanced vehicle diagnostic systems.Perform shop control duties in the Fleet Coordinator's absence.Knowledge & Skills RequiredKnowledge of City and departmental policies, including safety regulations.Knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair practices.Knowledge of mechanical diagnostic procedures.Knowledge of HVAC, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and brake systems.Skill in repairing and maintaining various vehicles and motorized equipment.Skill with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.Skill in oral and written communication.Minimum QualificationsMechanic I:Specialized training in vehicle or equipment maintenance and a high school diploma or equivalent.One to two years of related experience, typically through an apprenticeship, internship, or similar role.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri driver's license appropriate for equipment operated.Mechanic II (must meet one of the following):An associate degree in vehicle/equipment maintenance and two ASE certifications from Series A, E, F‑1, G‑1, or L, with maintained competency; orFive ASE certifications from Series A, E, F‑1, G‑1, or L, with maintained competency.Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri driver's license appropriate for equipment operated.Employee BenefitsThe City of O'Fallon values its employees and offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:Medical, Dental, and Vision insuranceEmployer‑paid Accident and Life InsuranceOptional HSA with employer contributionsFlexible Spending AccountsOptional Pet InsuranceWellness incentives and onsite workout facilitiesDiscounted Renaud Center membershipEmployee Assistance ProgramIdentity‑Theft ProtectionPaid Leave:3 weeks of vacation for new hires11 paid holidays + 1 personal holidaySick leave and extended illness leaveSelect facilities offer Zen rooms and lactation roomsRetirement & Career Growth:Missouri LAGERS L‑6 Pension Plan457(b) retirement plan optionsTuition reimbursement for continued professional developmentReady to Join Our Team?Apply online at www.ofallonmo.gov.We look forward to connecting with you!The City of O'Fallon is an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in E‑Verify.
