Job Summary

The Pole Removal Lineman C assists the Foreman and experienced crew members in the safe and efficient removal of existing utility poles on de-energized overhead distribution systems. This position supports pole removal operations by operating equipment, handling materials, maintaining a safe work environment, and assisting with all phases of non-energized work.


Responsibilities
  • Assist with the safe removal of existing non-energized utility poles.
  • Inspect poles and work areas before removal to identify potential hazards.
  • Assist with excavation, pole extraction, backfilling, and site restoration.
  • Operate and assist in the operation of bucket trucks, digger derricks, winches, and other equipment used during pole removal.
  • Load, unload, secure, and transport removed poles, hardware, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform ground support duties during lifting and pole removal operations.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements and participate in daily job briefings.
  • Maintain trucks, equipment, and jobsite housekeeping.
  • Assist in training new crew members by demonstrating safe work practices.
  • Complete assigned work accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of utility construction, heavy equipment, or overhead line experience.
  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Ability to safely operate or assist with bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other utility construction equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality artistry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of utility construction or pole removal experience.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Experience working on overhead distribution projects involving utility pole replacement or removal.ย 
  • Experience operating heavy equipment used in non-energized utility construction

Physical Demands and Work Environmentย 

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.ย ย 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.ย
