  • In accordance with the Medical Board of California, works under general supervision of the clinic physicians supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels and RN, in a controlled outpatient care area and performs a variety of duties. This position is represented by RCHEA.

  • LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Basic medical terminology preferred.

Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally lift boxes and/or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. The employee must demonstrate lifting a 25-pound box from the floor.
  • POTENTIAL EXPOSURE TO BLOOD & BODY FLUIDS: Category 3 for potential exposure to blood/body fluids. (Does not require the performance of procedures or other tasks in the work routine that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, and the assisting in cases of emergency medical care or first aid is not a requirement of employment. Tasks that involve handling of implements or utensils, use of the public or shared bathroom facilities, telephones, and personal contacts such as handshaking, are all considered Category 3 tasks.)

  • AGES SERVED (a): Infant, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients/individuals served. Demonstrates and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients/individuals status and interpret relative to his age-specific needs, and to provide the care/service needed.
  • Assists practitioner and RN with basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist or his designee.
  • Cross-trains for front office functions and fills in as needed.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient and administrative information in the Clinic, hospital and community setting.
  • Maintains lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner.
  • Must be a National Certified Medical Assistant and must maintain certificate and complete all required CEUs.
  • Observes all clinic protocols and procedures as written.
  • Performs waived lab tests and lab internal QCs. Prepares samples for shipment to hospital lab.
  • Prepares patient for provider exam and collects all baseline information and records in the patient chart.
  • Takes patient vital signs, height and weight measurements. Records results in patient chart.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
