The Multimedia Storyteller is responsible for identifying, shaping and producing compelling stories that reflect the people, research, culture and impact of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This role blends strong editorial judgment with multimedia production skills to create stories that resonate with audiences across digital platforms.
The Multimedia Storyteller will produce institutional and promotional videos while also reporting, writing and expanding stories through video, audio and digital-first formats. Their work will support University initiatives, recruitment efforts and the digital presence of La Louisiane, the University's magazine, including video storytelling that enhances magazine features and complements the La Louisiane podcast.
This position is ideal for a cross-functional storyteller - someone who can spot a strong story, ask the right questions, write with clarity and produce engaging multimedia content that brings those stories to life.
Responsibilities:
The Multimedia Storyteller will:
-Identify, report and develop story ideas featuring students, faculty, staff, alumni, research and campus life
-Write and produce original stories and press releases for digital platforms, including video-forward storytelling that enhances written and audio content
-Create short- and long-form videos for University initiatives, recruitment, institutional storytelling and magazine features
-Produce video content that enhances the digital presence of La Louisiane, including companion videos for magazine stories and La Louisiane podcast
-Collaborate with editors, writers, photographers and designers to expand stories across multiple formats
-Plan, script, storyboard, shoot and edit videos, including interviews, features, b-roll, event coverage and promotional pieces
-Work closely with the Office of Communications & Marketing team to align storytelling with University priorities and brand voice
-Develop and produce content for distribution across the University website, social media channels, YouTube and other digital platforms
-Manage video publishing, including writing descriptions, strategic keywording, closed captioning and performance tracking
-Evaluate content performance and make informed adjustments to improve reach and engagement
-Organize and archive video projects and raw footage using University systems
-Collaborate with campus partners throughout the storytelling process, including planning, production level, timelines, revisions and approvals
-Support additional University storytelling and communications initiatives as assigned
This role requires balancing timely, short-turnaround content with more in-depth, long-form storytelling projects.
