Creative Designer

Sound Ventures

Los Angeles, CA โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

About Sound Ventures
At Sound, we believe inspiration beats convention, and that the best founders aren't just solving problems; they're rewriting the rules.
For the last 15 years, we've invested thematically in category-defining companies at the forefront of major technology platform shifts. We seek out founders with relentless ambition and bold ideas, backing them before the rest of the world sees what's coming.
Our portfolio includes early investments in Affirm, Airbnb, Airtable, Anthropic, Duolingo, EquipmentShare, GitLab, OpenAI, SentinelOne, and Uber, among others.
Sound Ventures is led by General Partners Effie Epstein and Guy Oseary and manages $2B+ across a series of funds.
The Role
We're looking to hire our first ever Designer who thrives on variety. This is a role for someone who enjoys solving different creative challenges every day rather than focusing on a single discipline.
You'll work across nearly every aspect of design at Sound - supporting our brand, helping portfolio companies elevate their storytelling, and partnering with our incubation team as new companies come to life.
One day you might be designing a keynote presentation for an LP meeting, editing a founder video, or creating our website. The next, you could be creating a visual identity for an incubated startup, designing assets for an event, or helping a portfolio company refine its pitch.
We're a lean team, so everyone wears multiple hats. The ideal candidate is excited to work across brand design, presentations, digital content, websites, and creative production, and enjoys moving seamlessly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
What You'll Do
  • Design presentations, pitch decks, one-pagers, and other high-quality marketing materials.
  • Create visual assets across digital, social, web, email, and events.
  • Maintain and update the Sound Ventures website.
  • Edit videos for launches, events, social media, and marketing campaigns.
  • Assist with podcast editing and production (nice to have).
  • Partner with the incubation team to develop visual identities, websites, marketing assets, and creative systems for new companies.
  • Support portfolio companies with design needs ranging from presentations and branding to product launches and marketing collateral.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, freelancers, and creative partners when needed.
  • Continuously improve our design systems, templates, and creative workflows.
Who You Are
  • 5-8 years of creative experience.
  • Strong visual design skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent presentation and editorial design skills.
  • Experience designing for digital, web, and social.
  • Comfortable editing video; podcast production is a plus.
  • Experience with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Curious, resourceful, and excited by technology, with AI as part of your creative workflow.
  • Open to being based in LA, with some travel.
Why Sound
  • Design for one of the leading AI venture firms in the world.
  • Work alongside founders building category-defining companies.
  • Help shape brands from day one through incubation and early growth.
  • Join a lean, collaborative team where you'll have meaningful ownership from day one.
