Role: Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Manager

JD:

Responsibilities
  • Work in a team focused on planning, managing, and governing business portfolios, including key strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional planning to develop portfolio views and support planning discussions among work owners, including resource allocation, dependencies, and sequencing across portfolios.
  • Coordinate and synchronize portfolios through regular planning sessions to provide a common understanding of current workstreams, backlog, and expected outcomes.
  • Monitor processes, tasks, and metrics associated with business portfolios, measuring performance against baseline scope, budget, schedule, and resource plans.
  • Develop governance best practices and guiding principles to improve performance, increase operational efficiency, and reduce operating costs.
  • Develop and recommend project and portfolio management processes that support the on-time and within-budget delivery of critical business initiatives.
  • Ensure transparency into the status of business project portfolios to enable data-driven decision-making by leadership.
  • Analyze and assess portfolio performance to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, documentation standards, methodologies, and service level agreements.
  • Ensure consistent delivery against objectives by establishing standards, providing governance, enforcing accountability, and driving organizational transformation.
  • Develop executive-level reports, dashboards, and metrics with a focus on visually presenting complex information.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support and enable organizational change management initiatives.
Qualifications and Soft Skills
  • Significant progressively responsible experience in a Portfolio Management Office (PMO), Strategy Realization Office, or equivalent function within a large organization; experience in financial services is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management lifecycles and methodologies, including Agile, SDLC, SAFe, and Lean Portfolio Management.
  • Ability to work independently in a matrixed organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Portfolio Management (PPM).
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships through trust, diplomacy, and collaboration.
  • Strong decision-making skills with sound judgment and initiative.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and drive results.
