1.0FTE New Position: Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in Addiction Medicine
Position Details
- APII
- Fulltime Schedule Monday to Friday; no weekends, Holidays or call hours currently
o Program is expanding
o Start time 8am usually
- If experienced PMHNP (5+ years); would possibly explore 4 day a week schedule
- Mid-size practice with other PMHNP in the program and collaborating Psychiatrists
- 14 patients per day
1. Role of a PMHNP: A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is a specialized advanced practice nurse who is trained to provide mental health care to adult and geriatric patients. They can diagnose mental health conditions, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications.
2. Typical Responsibilities:
- Conducting psychiatric assessments and evaluations.
- Diagnosing mental health disorders and developing treatment plans.
- Providing psychotherapy or counseling.
- Prescribing and managing medications as needed.
- Monitoring and following up with patients to track progress.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards
3. PMHNPs may see patients with a wide range of mental health issues, including addiction, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more. They might also provide care to patients dealing with stress-related problems or life transitions.
