Job description

A leading automotive manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, procurement activities, and cost optimization initiatives that support manufacturing operations.

Must have a background in Automotive or Heavy Manufacturing

Salary $85k+

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing supplier partnerships, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring material availability to support production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities for assigned commodities, including sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on cost, quality, and delivery performance
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, cost reductions, and supplier agreements
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, amendments, and supplier documentation
  • Monitor supplier performance and support corrective actions when required
  • Identify sourcing opportunities and evaluate potential suppliers
  • Support cost-saving initiatives and productivity improvement programs
  • Participate in APQP activities and support new program launches
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within Supply Chain

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
  • Strong experience in supplier management, negotiations, and procurement processes
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, and supplier operations
  • Experience with capital procurement is an asset
  • Ability to analyze supplier performance and commercial data
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid G driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive manufacturing experience
  • Experience within a Tier 1 automotive environment
  • PMAC / CPP certification
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and automotive quality standards
