Plumbers are skilled tradespeople who install, repair, and maintain systems used for water, sewage, drainage, and gas in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Their work includes fixing leaks, installing pipes and fixtures, and ensuring that plumbing systems comply with local codes and safety standards. Plumbers may also provide emergency services for urgent issues like burst pipes or clogged drains. They typically undergo formal training and apprenticeships to gain the necessary expertise.

What are different jobs in the plumbing industry?

Some of the different jobs in the plumbing industry include plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters. Plumbers address all manner of plumbing tasks. Pipefitters, sometimes referred to simply as fitters, install specialized pipes that carry sensitive materials, such as natural gas, acid, or chemical compounds. These are typically for industrial operations, such as at manufacturing or power plants or gas pipelines.
