Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for estimation and takeoffs of plumbing jobs. The individual should have a good understanding of all aspects of mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners and job-site personnel, representing TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner. Overall responsibility will be to manage the estimating team for the region and to assist in other regions when requested.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings.
  • Provide project material takeoffs and pricing.
  • Attends project site surveys and walks.
  • Ability to obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training as needed and/or required.
  • Provides the VP of Estimating quantitative material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.
  • Ensures smooth and timely estimates.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience required:
  • 5 years experience in commercial plumbing, heating, and/or fire protection estimating, or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 3 years experience as a Journeyman.
  • 3-5 years prior estimating experience.
  • Trimble Viewpoint and/or Quick Pen, Autodesk Est-MEP, and QuoteSoft experience

Job Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
  • Good math ability.
  • Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Estimation and/or Quicken experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level in front of peers, co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to conduct scope reviews with clients/customers.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience
  • Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Eyesight correctable to 20/50
  • Capable of job site tours, climbing ladders and on/off equipment, etc.

Special Requirements:
  • Valid Drivers License
