Primary Purpose:
- Maintain and repair plumbing equipment and building plumbing system components. Install, repair, inspect, test and clean new and existing equipment
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman's plumbing license or comparable experience
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Driving record that is insurable with Plano ISD's insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to communicate well and deal with all people in a courteous and positive manner
- Ability to read and interpret building plans, blue prints and specifications
- Ability to read and understand plumbing instructions effectively
- Knowledge of commercial plumbing, and applicable boiler and plumbing codes
Experience:
- Five years of experience in the plumbing trade
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers and water coolers
- Analyze each job assignment and consult with the supervisor to ensure labor and material are available
- Study building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installation
- Complete work orders in a timely manner, ensuring that each work order shows a history of labor and material used
- Inspect facilities and initiate work, as needed
- Follow safety rules and procedures, and assume the responsibility of ensuring that safety rules are being followed by plumber technicians
- Maintain a clean company vehicle (interior and exterior) and report any vehicle irregularities
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance that is safe and representative of the department
- Follow all rules, regulations and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
- Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor
Equipment Used:
- Plumbing equipment to include, but not limited to, sewer machines, torches and VOM; heavy machinery, including front-end loaders and backhoes; and Plano ISD vehicles

- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Occasional lifting and carrying, 15-50 pounds; occasional twisting, reaching above shoulder, bending, climbing, crawling, and digging; manual dexterity to complete projects in a craftsman fashion; may require working in inclement weather
