Description: VDI Architect's role is responsible for VDI, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure platform (Engineering and Non-Engineering) across Honeywell's enterprise and the overall user experience with technology as it relates to the Digital Workplace of the future. This role is responsible for supporting all technology aspects of VDI ranging from Horizon, App Volumes, v Realize Automation, Graphics (vGPU). VDI Architect will continue to evaluate market space and recommend solutions that improve the user experience, system stability, and increase productivity. This role will also be responsible for Operations Support of the VDI Environment
Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Take ownership of VDI Platform (Engineering and Non-Engineering) and recommend solutions that improves the user experience, system stability, and increase productivity
Research, evaluate, and recommend current and emerging tools, techniques, and technologies as related to VDI, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technology
Define, develop, and document all VDI Infrastructure technology aspects ranging from Horizon, Application Virtualization (App Volume, Thin App, App-V), Automation (v Realize Automation) and Graphics virtualizations (3D, vGPU etc.)
Manage VDI standard O.S. imaging strategy and integration with Applications
VDI Standards Management and expand VDI Service as plug & play as we expand service beyond initial implementation in a large scale enterprise environment (40,000+ users)
Analyze, refine, and further develop the Honeywell's VDI initial implementation according to industry best practice
Analyze Problem Management and Root Cause Analysis reports and search for trends and solutions to prevent future problems
Adhere to existing HON IT processes and actively participate in the development of new processes that adhere to best practices (and Firm developed standards) using ITIL methodology including Configuration Management, Change Management, and Release Management.
Work with cross functional groups (Application Services, Application Development and Infrastructure) to ensure solutions meet performance and reliability goals
Lead in the development of standard operational procedures and design documentation that follows best practices
Lead efforts to document and share technical knowledge within team and with other support teams
Maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction by resolving all tangible problems and concerns and providing excellent client service
Qualification:
Minimum ten (10) years related experience required, with experience in: VMWare Virtualization, Desktop Architecture and End User Computing
Minimum five (5) years related experience required, with experience in: VMWare View/ VMWare Horizon, Thin App, App-V, App Volumes and NVIDIA vGPU technologies
Advanced knowledge of Engineering and non-engineering workstations (Hardware) and migration to VDI Platforms
Proficient Knowledge of Linux, Unix and Windows Operating Systems
Additional Qualifications:
Networking Skills, NSX. Storage Virtualizations (VSAN, NUTANIX)
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of external and internal customers
Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken.
Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills
