Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Technician to design, implement, and support industrial control systems across manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for PLC programming, industrial networking, database integration, and troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The ideal candidate is self-driven, technically versatile, and capable of working independently to improve and maintain production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs from the ground up using Allen-Bradley platforms (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500)ย
- Configure and troubleshoot OPC communications for seamless data exchange between industrial devices and software systemsย
- Develop and manage SQL databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) for data collection, storage, and analysisย
- Perform PLC diagnostics and system troubleshooting to minimize downtime and improve machine performanceย
- Maintain industrial network infrastructure, including:ย
- Static IP address assignmentย
- NAT configurationย
- Firewall rule implementationย
- Plant network architectureย
- Develop and maintain HMI applications using Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View and AutomationDirect C-Moreย
- Implement and validate machine safety systems in accordance with ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012 standardsย
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systemsย
- Interpret technical documentation and utilize manufacturer resources for troubleshooting and system designย
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gainsย
- Support commissioning, startup, and continuous improvement initiativesย
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independentlyย
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500)ย
- Experience with HMI development (FactoryTalk View, C-More)ย
- Solid understanding of industrial networking concepts (Ethernet/IP, IP addressing, NAT, firewalls)ย
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of machine safety standards (ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012 or similar)ย
- Hands-on experience with OPC protocols and industrial communicationsย
- Proficiency with SQL databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)ย
- Experience with data acquisition and analytics systemsย
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and IIoT integrationsย
- Experience working in manufacturing or production environmentsย
- Understanding of version control and structured programming practicesย
