Job Description/Duties

Provide technical assistance and support to production with problem resolution; management of continuous improvement projects; process design; tool design and procurement; installation and movement of capital equipment; new product management and launch; assist in training and lean principles implementation.

Continuously evaluate production equipment and manufacturing processes for improvements in processes and methods for cost reduction, quality improvement and overall efficiency.

Manage programs and processes, to ensure safe, timely and efficient operation of all plant machinery and equipment.

Design, implement and refine production processes and equipment to maintain target production levels

Participate in new program manufacturing planning/AQP reviews

Assist in development of new processes and new core competencies

Provide technical assistance and support with investigating production and safety issues to help formulate corrective and preventive actions and mitigate risks.

Work closely with maintenance and oversee technicians to solve problems with machinery

Collect data and analyze data for predictive maintenance on equipment and tooling

Involved in cost reduction, energy consumption and controlling pollution levels

Develop detailed project schedules and ensure project deadlines are met

Manage project budgets and expenditures

Coordinate with maintenance, vendors, and suppliers to meet production needs, quality, and deadlines

Providing training and technical support to employees

Work with production to develop work standards and standardized work procedures

Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment

Review downtime information and create solutions to reduce or eliminate the downtime

Be a leader in continuous improvement activities (lean and VA/VE)

Keep a positive attitude and lead by example

Perform other duties as needed or assigned

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science in Automated Manufacturing, Tool Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering (Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Applied Science in the same preferred) or equivalent work experience in the Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering function.

Experience

Minimum two (2) yearsโ€™ experience in working with metal stamping and/or fabrication equipment (stamping presses, tube bending, laser, manual and robotic welding, machining centers) preferred. - Minimum two (2) yearsโ€™ experience in Manufacturing Engineering Working knowledge of computer software i.e. AutoCAD or similar software.

Proficiency with CNC controls, tooling geometry, machine tool processes and fixture design.

Proficiency with automated, semi-automated, and manual assembly equipment and work center/cell design.

PLC programming experience and robot programming experience desired.

Experience in controls, PMs, mechanical, electrical circuits, hydraulic, pneumatics and welding techniques.

Strong organizational skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously.

Basic knowledge of applicable quality, safety, and environmental management systems.

Experience in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and applying standard work.

Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment with both hourly and salary personnel to meet the needs of operators, programs and the business.
