Description:

Steinway & Sons is seeking a highly motivated PLC Technician with at least five years of experience in industrial automation, controls, and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and control systems to support daily production operations. This hands-on role requires expertise in PLC programming, electrical controls, and electronic repair while working closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.


Job Elements or Tasks:

• Perform PLC implementation and programming

• Perform regularly scheduled backups of all PLC programs

• Create and back-up all ladder logic diagrams and drawings required for production equipment

• Maintain Electro-Pneumatic controls, fluid power transmissions, and hydraulics

• Ensure work is in compliance with all OSHA and NEC regulatory policies and procedures

• Specify and identify materials and other items required to perform the job

• Maintain work area to ensure it is safe, clean, and efficient

• Participates in cross-training efforts

• Keep accurate records of all jobs worked

• Must be available for emergency callouts 24/7

• Perform other maintenance duties and activities as required

• Perform all daily maintenance functions and 5S requirements (i.e. clean and sweep area)

• Enter data in Upkeep and Synerion, and close work orders as required

• Perform other functions in the department as necessary

Requirements:

• A high level of engineering principles theory and knowledge, equivalent to a 4-year technical college education.

• 5 years of experience working with PLCs

• Ability to read, interpret, and modify schematics and ladder logic diagrams.

• Broad judgment, initiative, and ingenuity with a moderate degree of physical demand when performing the job.

• Perform work in physically demanding conditions with periods of heavy lifting greater than 50 lbs.

• Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to various types of elements such as cold, heat, noise, dust, oil, cleaners, etc.


The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $40 - $42 an hour. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
