Job description

PLC Technician
Manufacturing company in Benson is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Controls & Automation Technician. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, VFDs, and instrumentation. Your expertise will be essential in supporting plant reliability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety and ISO standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install PLC-based control systems (primarily Siemens and GE Fanuc; some Allen Bradley).
- Maintain and update SCADA systems (iFix and iHistorian).
- Perform regular backups of control system programs for disaster recovery.
- Calibrate and verify instrumentation to meet process and ISO standards.
- Install, commission, and maintain VFDs, including tuning and programming.
- Support system upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve control issues to reduce equipment downtime.
- Read, interpret, and update wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Utilize CMMS or other software to manage parts, work orders, and maintenance records.
- Ensure strict compliance with NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and site safety policies.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience with industrial automation or controls system in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and schematic interpretation skills
