Playwright Typescript information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Playwright Typescript Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Playwright Typescript Developer, you need strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, automated testing principles, and experience with web application architectures. Familiarity with Playwright's testing framework, CI/CD systems like Jenkins or GitHub Actions, and version control tools such as Git is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication are important soft skills for diagnosing test failures and collaborating with development teams. These skills ensure robust test automation, reliable software delivery, and efficient teamwork in fast-paced development environments.

What is a Playwright Typescript developer?

A Playwright Typescript developer is a software engineer who specializes in using Playwright, an open-source automation library, with the TypeScript programming language to write end-to-end tests for web applications. Playwright allows developers to simulate user interactions with web browsers, ensuring that web applications function correctly across different browsers and platforms. Using TypeScript provides benefits like static type checking and improved code maintainability, making it easier to catch errors early and write reliable tests. These developers are often responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing test scripts to automate quality assurance processes.

What are some common challenges faced when writing automated tests with Playwright and TypeScript, and how can they be addressed?

A frequent challenge in this role is managing flaky tests, which can result from dynamic web elements or asynchronous operations. To address this, Playwright offers robust auto-waiting and retry mechanisms, but it's important to write selectors and test logic that are resilient to UI changes. Another challenge is maintaining a scalable, organized test suite as the application grows. Using TypeScript’s strong typing and modular code structure, along with Playwright’s test runner, can help improve code quality and make tests easier to maintain. Collaborating closely with developers and QA engineers ensures tests align with evolving requirements.

Job description

Title: Senior Automation Engineer with Playwright, AI-Assisted Testing

Location: Florida (Hybrid)

Only GC or Citizen

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright, practical enterprise experience with cloud-native solutions on AWS, and experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate automation. The successful candidate will help guide cloud architecture decisions, establish implementation patterns, support platform engineering efforts, and contribute to emerging AI-enabled development and delivery workflows, while ensuring quality across our applications and cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Playwright.

• Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) to generate test cases, author and refactor automation scripts, and improve coverage and speed.

• Help guide cloud architecture decisions and establish reusable implementation patterns.

• Support platform engineering efforts and contribute to emerging AI-enabled development and delivery workflows.

• Build and execute automated test suites for web applications (UI, API, and end-to-end).

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality.

• Collaborate with developers, QA, and product teams to define test coverage and acceptance criteria.

• Leverage AWS services to support test environments, infrastructure, and execution at scale.

• Evaluate and adopt emerging AI testing tools, and define best practices for their effective and responsible use.

• Analyze test results, debug failures, and report on quality metrics.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to automation best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years in test automation, with strong hands-on experience in Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript or Python).

• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) to generate and accelerate automation work.

• Practical enterprise experience building and supporting cloud-native solutions. Deep AWS specialization is not required, but candidates should understand how to apply AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM) using established architectural best practices.

• Solid understanding of automation design patterns (e.g., Page Object Model).

• Strong API testing experience (REST/GraphQL).

• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).

• Proficiency in version control (Git) and Agile delivery practices.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience building agentic or prompt-based testing workflows.

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
