Quality Assurance Web & Automation Engineer

SALARY: $60-80/hour

LOCATION: Chicago, IL

Onsite 2 days a week once hired, remote until hired

Local candidates interested in a contract to hire down the road

DURATION: INDEFINITE w/ potential for fulltime conversion

Need someone with web application 90% (UI), user interface frontend experience with selenium. Would like to see some playwright a big plus because they are going from selenium to playwright.

UI Automation Engineer

The role is for a UI automation engineer focused on WEB application testing. The hiring manager is looking for a long-term candidate rather than a short-term contractor, emphasizing a willingness to invest time and training in the right person. The position is within the CTS team, which has three areas: data validation/ETL testing, API layer, and UI layer.

Technical Requirements

Primary Skills

  • Strong UI automation experience (90% front-end testing focus)
  • Current tech stack: Selenium with C#
  • C# is a major plus since the development framework is built on .NET, but candidates with strong OOP concepts in any language can adapt
  • Playwright knowledge is highly desirable as the team plans to migrate to this framework

Supporting Skills

  • Basic SQL skills for querying databases (select queries, joins)
  • Basic API knowledge for back-end validation and debugging
  • Ability to integrate test data from APIs and databases rather than hard-coding

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Mobile application testing experience with mobileReally tool
  • Knowledge of AI coding assistants (AI Codex)

The Quality Assurance Web & Automation Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of new features as well as improvement of existing functionality across internal and external Web applications. This includes Integration testing, Customer Data Quality testing, Usability (Functional and Performance) testing, Regression testing etc.

  • Experience using AI for QA & testing use cases such as but not limited to - writing test cases, test data, debugging/troubleshooting, automation, etc. Advanced experience below a strong plus:

o Experience using Microsoft Playwright library and framework.

o Proficiency in Prompt Engineering and working with LLMs.

o Framework architecture, test migration from one framework to another.

o Integration of MCP and agentic testing using Microsoft Playwright.
