Position Overview:
Term: 6-month contract to hire
Location: Parkville, MO or Tulsa, OK
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00; commensurate with experience
Hours: 9:00 - 5:00
We are seeking an entry-mid level Software Tester with hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing to support software systems used in HVAC products, including systems that manage and monitor 1-stage and 2-stage compressors. This role will focus on ensuring software quality, reliability, and performance across applications that support operational, control, and user-facing HVAC technologies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in testing methodologies, exposure to automation frameworks, and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering and product teams.
What you will do as the Software Tester/QA Engineer:

  • Design, develop, and implement automated test scripts to simulate real-world user interactions and system behaviors
  • Execute automated and manual test cases to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability
  • Analyze test results and logs to identify, reproduce, and document software defects
  • Collaborate with software developers, product owners, and systems engineers to define testing requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage
  • Participate in regression testing cycles for software releases related to HVAC control systems and compressor functionality
  • Ensure test coverage aligns with business, operational, and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and documentation
What you will bring to the team:
Required Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance
  • Experience executing both manual and automated test cases
  • Hands-on experience with at least one test automation tool or framework (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestNG, JUnit, or similar)
  • Understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test plans, test cases, and defect lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development environments
  • Ability to analyze technical issues and clearly document findings
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Effective communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a technical environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent professional experience considered
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience testing systems related to industrial equipment, manufacturing, or HVAC technologies
  • Exposure to testing applications that interface with hardware or embedded systems
  • Basic understanding of compressors, control systems, or IoT-enabled devices
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
  • Familiarity with API testing and basic scripting (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
