About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

The B-Side Developmental Coach position supports the Northeastern University Women's Rugby program, working alongside other coaching staff and Executive Board members to mentor and develop newer players. This hourly position focuses on coaching the rookie/B-Side squad, reinforcing core rugby skills, and guiding newer players as they transition into competitive collegiate rugby. The Coach leads weekly practices and coaches B-Side matches on weekends in both 15s and 7s formats, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment that upholds team values and safe play. This position requires availability for practices and weekend matches during the August-November and January-April seasons.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Coach and assist at three practices per week with an emphasis on fundamentals and developmental skill work

  • Coach the B-Side/rookie squad at weekend matches in both 15s and 7s formats

  • Support player development through consistent feedback, positive reinforcement, and tactical guidance

  • Foster a respectful and inclusive environment, reinforcing team values and safe play

  • Help assess player progress and communicate with coaching staff about developmental needs

  • Attend occasional planning meetings or team sessions as requested

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous playing experience in rugby required

  • USA Rugby Level 1 Coaching Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain

  • Strong understanding of rugby fundamentals, including tackling, passing, breakdown, positioning, and safety

  • Experience coaching or mentoring youth or college-age athletes is a plus

  • Dependable, communicative, and comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment

  • Must be able to commit to practices and weekend matches August-November and January-April
