Your scope spans the full technical backbone of the company including cloud infrastructure, developer tools, frontend platform, care technology, merchant operations systems, and logistics and dispatch.Every engineering team across Wonder Group (Grubhub, Blue Apron, and Wonder) builds on what this organization owns. Your mandate is to lead the platform technical strategy and execution. Maintaining reliably at scale while driving the tech stack consolidation and modernization that positions the business for its next phase of growth.The Impact You Will MakePlatform & InfrastructureOwn the multi-cloud platform across Azure, GCP, and AWS and drive the consolidation planning and execution and simplification strategyLead container orchestration at scale (AKS), and other foundational stacks like Kafka, Redis, networking, and reliability engineeringDrive observability and SRE capability across all brands and workloadsOwn cloud and software cost management and the infrastructure cost optimization roadmapLogistics & DispatchOwn the courier/driver marketplace platform, ETA systems, and fulfillment orchestrationEnsure logistics infrastructure supports real-time dispatch at oper ational scale across all Wonder and Grubhub delivery surfacesDeveloper Tools & ProductivityBuild and run an AI First engineering tooling and capabilities that make every engineer more productiveOwn CI/CD, developer experience toolchain, and internal platform tooling across all engineering organizationsBuild and operate the developer platform that enables engineering velocity across Wonder GroupDrive measurable improvement in developer productivity as an organizational capabilityFrontend PlatformOwn shared frontend components and design systems across Wonder, Blue Apron and Grubhub applications and surfaces.Ensure frontend platform enables product teams to move fast without rebuilding foundational components.Care & Support TechnologyOwn CX operations technology, post-purchase automation, and care toolingOwn AI-first care automation via chat and voiceEnsure care technology scales with order volume without proportional headcount growth and optimized cost structureMerchant Operations SystemsOwn merchant platform, POS integrations, GrubHub for Restaurants, reporting, and Salesforce customer lifecycle management.Ensure merchant-facing systems support the full Wonder and Grubhub merchant baseWhy This RoleDirect line to company-critical infrastructure. The entire business depends on this org working well.Multi-brand platform (Wonder, Grubhub, Blue Apron) with well established business and customer bases means significant scale immediatelyConsolidation mandate with executive support, you are leading a defined technical strategy initiativeLogistics and dispatch engineering at scale is a major differentiation for the group and critical to the business.CTO is actively engaged and treats platform reliability and developer velocity as first-class company prioritiesWhat You Bring to the Table15+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years leading infrastructure or platform engineering organizations at Senior Director levelTrack record of owning high-availability production platforms at scale — real systems with real operational consequences, if our systems go down our customers don’t get their food delivered.Deep experience with multi-cloud infrastructure: Azure, GCP, and AWS in production environmentsStrong expertise in container orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS), Kafka, observability stacks, and SRE practicesExperience leading logistics or real-time dispatch platform engineering is a strong advantageTrack record of improving developer productivity and building internal developer platformsAbility to recruit senior infrastructure and platform engineers and build a high-trust, high-output orgComfortable operating across engineering cultures in a fast-moving, acquisition-heavy environmentExperience preparing infrastructure and platforms for IPO-level operational maturity and audit readinessBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant STEM discipline—or equivalent practical experience leading complex engineering organizations at scale.As a matter of company policy, Wonder does not sponsor applicants for employment visa status for this role.Our hybrid model requires 3 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in-person collaboration and connection. You're welcome—and encouraged—to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.New York: $345,000-$404,500 per year.Wonder uses geographic-specific salary structures, which means the salary offered may vary depending on where the job is located.
