Job description

Software Engineer III- Eng Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions and similar tools.
  • Develop and manage cloud infrastructure across platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Build and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes to support scalable and portable deployments.
  • Implement secure access practices including identity and access management, secrets management, and Workload Identity Federation.
  • Use tools such as Ansible and Python to automate configuration, provisioning, and operational processes.
  • Apply Git-based workflows and GitOps practices to improve deployment consistency and traceability.
  • Build and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools such as Grafana and Prometheus to ensure service health and performance.
  • Improve system reliability through high availability design, disaster recovery planning, and performance optimization.
  • Lead design discussions, review code, and guide engineers to maintain high standards in software development and engineering practices.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions and improve developer experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering or DevOps engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with continuous integration and delivery tools such as GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Strong understanding of version control systems such as Git and modern development practices including GitOps.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Frontend and Backend Skills
  • Strong TypeScript experience.
  • React expertise.
  • Experience building internal tooling UX/workflows.
  • Node.js/Express experience.
  • Experience designing APIs and service integrations.
  • Understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth, OIDC, RBAC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with continuous delivery, release management, and deployment strategies.
  • Familiarity with security practices such as vulnerability management and compliance.
  • Experience working with distributed systems and production operations.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies.

  • Experience developing AI: prompts, plugins, MCP servers, Claude.

  • Core Backstage / Platform Engineering experience.
  • Experience implementing or operating a Backstage developer portal in production.
  • Experience building and maintaining custom Backstage plugins.
  • Strong understanding of the Backstage Software Catalog (domains, systems, components, APIs, groups, users).
  • Experience designing golden paths and self‑service developer workflows.
  • Familiarity with TechDocs, scaffolder templates, and catalog ingestion patterns.
  • Experience integrating Backstage with enterprise systems (GitHub, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, cloud platforms).

The pay range for this position is $102,300 to $147,050. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job‑related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance‑based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
