American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience and proficiency in open heart procedures including CABG, TAVR, and ECMO.
Job Details
• Work in a 15-bed surgical unit with 2 dedicated CVOR rooms at a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center,
• Cardiovascular patient population including open heart, CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, and ECMO,
• Additional case types include trauma, neuro, general, vascular (including endovascular), ENT, ortho spine, total joint, GYN, urology, robotics (general and neuro), plastics, breast, and ophthalmology,
• Minimal pediatric cases, typically orthopedic in nature,
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• RN role is circulator only,
• 10-hour day shifts starting at 6:00 AM, 40 hours per week,
• No floating required,
• On-call schedule includes approximately 1 weekday per week and one weekend per month (Friday 3:00 PM-7:00 AM, Saturday 24 hours, Sunday 24 hours), totaling approximately 10 call days per month,
• Weekend rotation requires on-call availability,
• EMR: Cerner (required),
• Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors,
Job Requirements
• Active AL RN license or compact RN license required (license in hand or pending with ETA acceptable at time of consideration),
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS,
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience required; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be considered,
• Hands-on experience with open heart procedures including CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, and ECMO,
• Strong experience across multiple surgical service lines including trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, ortho spine, total joint replacement, GYN, urology, plastics, breast, and ophthalmology,
• Robotic surgical experience preferred, particularly Robotic Mazor and DaVinci XI,
• Cerner EMR experience required,
• Must be able to respond to the facility within 30 minutes when on call,
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible,
• Required for consideration: 1 professional reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months, copy of certifications, full SSN, and date of birth (day and month),
Additional Information
• Circulating responsibilities across cardiovascular and general surgical service lines,
• Unit support includes OR assistants (ORA), a desk assistant, charge nurses, and team leaders for each service line,
• Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during the orientation period,
• Holiday coverage is required for at least one holiday per contract,
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience,
