What is plastic and reconstructive surgery?

Plastic and reconstructive surgery is a specialized field of medicine focused on restoring, reconstructing, or altering parts of the human body. It includes both cosmetic procedures, which enhance appearance, and reconstructive procedures, which repair defects caused by injury, disease, or congenital conditions. Surgeons in this field work to improve function as well as appearance, helping patients recover from trauma, burns, cancer treatments, or birth anomalies. The goal is to restore normal form and function, and sometimes to enhance a person's quality of life.
