Description

American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative plastic-injection molded products for the household & garage storage and commercial cleaning end-markets.  Reporting to the Production Manager, the Injection Molding Production Supervisor will plan, direct, and coordinate the production activities of their shift. The primary responsibilities of the Production Supervisor include directing job assignments and providing leadership to the production staff; managing production resources for a high-volume manufacturing operation; maintaining high levels of order fulfillment with good quality and operating in safe conditions. The Production Supervisor is accountable for inspiring, training, and developing their team to achieve optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability.


The Production Supervisor will work a 12hr shift on a 2-2-3 schedule


Injection Molding

  • Utilize prior experience leading injection molding team, as well as working knowledge of processing plastics.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust molding parameters to maintain quality and maximum product output.
  • Respond to problems by performing corrective technical or mechanical solutions.

General

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment.
  • Knowledge of production KPIs and communicate the KPIs to production staff.
  • Evaluate and provide timely feedback on employee performance; motivate and develop a cohesive production team; maintain production and attendance records.
  • Make timely decisions to maintain production output and quickly analyze situations and provide direction to production staff.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to maximize productivity, reduce waste, improve quality, reduce costs, and provide a safe work environment.
  • Monitor processes to ensure productivity and quality standards are being achieved.
  • Analyze and resolve processing issues.
  • Understand escalation process for when issues move from maintenance to engineering.
  • Understand schedules and priorities.
  • Interact well with all levels of the organization.

 Safety

  • Report incident reports
  • Understand how to preform root cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Waste Management and monitoring what is happening on the floor.
  • Effectively communicate with Process / Maintenance when an issue needs to be, so it does not become a safety issue, or give direction due to production demand.


Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience, Plastic Injection knowledge is a MUST. 
  • Hybrid Candidate - Willing to roll up sleeves and be on the floor as well as office management.
