Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plastic Welder to join our manufacturing team. The Plastic Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding plastic components and systems according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with thermoplastics and plastic welding techniques, including the use of specialized welding and fabrication equipment. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to read technical drawings, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and specifications.
  • Measure, mark, cut, and prepare plastic materials for fabrication and welding.
  • Perform plastic welding using appropriate methods and equipment, including hot air welding, extrusion welding, socket fusion, butt fusion, or other applicable techniques.
  • Fabricate and assemble plastic components, piping, tanks, fittings, and other structures according to specifications.
  • Set up and operate plastic welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Use hand and power tools, including saws, routers, drills, grinders, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Inspect materials and completed welds to ensure they meet quality and customer requirements.
  • Identify defects, flaws, or inconsistencies and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Accurately measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, rulers, calipers, and other measuring tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, quality personnel, and other production team members.
  • Meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
  • Assist with training new employees when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in plastic welding, plastic fabrication, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Experience working with thermoplastic materials such as PVC, CPVC, PP, PVDF, HDPE, or similar materials is preferred.
  • Knowledge of plastic welding and fusion techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to accurately take measurements and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification or formal training in plastic welding or thermoplastic fabrication.
  • Experience with high-purity piping systems or semiconductor manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with butt fusion, socket fusion, extrusion welding, or hot air welding.
  • Experience working with materials such as PVDF, polypropylene, PVC, or other engineered plastics.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
