A plasterer is a construction specialist who applies a plaster coating to interior and exterior surfaces during the finishing process. As a plasterer, your duties involve mixing the materials, preparing the work surface, and applying plaster. You generally finish each project with a sealant or wax to protect your work. Some plasterers also specialize in a particular type of work, such as decorative plastering.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a plasterer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Plasterer, you need strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and knowledge of plastering techniques, usually gained through apprenticeships or vocational training. Familiarity with tools such as trowels, hawks, mixing machines, and scaffolding is essential, along with understanding safety regulations. Good communication, problem-solving, and time management skills help you work efficiently with clients and other construction professionals.
