Product Engineer Body
Job Summary:
Our client in Chicago, IL is looking for a Product Engineer Body. This is a contract position.
What You Will Do:
A Plant Vehicle Team Engineer has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the Quality of the vehicles.
Some tasks include:
  • Review incoming warranty claims data on a daily basis, review customer and dealership comments, bin claims into proper binning categories, contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer inputs in Quality surveys, review returned parts for root cause analysis and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Use external warranty and internal data to inform what plant floor investigations are required.
  • Investigate issues on the plant floor as part of identifying root cause, ICA, and PCAs.
  • Supporting assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analysis and other Quality issues.
  • Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents (Top 20) and drive the achievement of quality targets.
  • Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches.
  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for sub-system components to address quality concerns.
  • Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system.
  • Issue engineering Alerts and initiate & pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives.
  • Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality.
  • Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers' reviews).

Basics:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Microsoft Excel - Candidate should be able to analyze excel data to identify warranty patterns and trends.
  • CAD - Candidate should be able to use CAD to help root cause issues by loading related parts into CAD and viewing interfaces with applicable parts.
  • Design experience and problem solving in a manufacturing environment.
  • Position fully onsite.
