Job Description Join Our Essential Team as a Mechanic. This position is part of the Plant Industrial Trades Series, devoted to skilled trades work in the construction, alteration and repair of utility plant facilities and equipment. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of chemical feed systems and equipment supporting the operations of a large-scale water treatment and pumping facility.

Performs a variety of mechanical, facilities and grounds maintenance work at assigned plants, lift stations and related sites. Including inspecting, maintaining, repairing or replacing pumps, valves and meters critical to water treatment, distribution, and pumping processes. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to tool organization, preventative maintenance on equipment, repairs to equipment, work space organization, addressing housekeeping issues, pumping out vaults, labeling of equipment, and equipment inspections.

Duties and Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Utilizes techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing work Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades, installs machinery, chemical feed systems, plumbing systems, pumps, valves, gearboxes, pneumatic/hydraulic systems and other critical equipment in a continuous-running work environment Observes and listens to mechanical performance to troubleshoot malfunctions and test performance of equipment Performs preventative maintenance, facilities maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and replacement of defective parts, equipment and systems Ensures the maintenance work area, warehouse, facility, grounds and storage areas remain neat, clean, safe and orderly.

Cleans and repairs hand tools and power tools used for mechanical equipment maintenance Prepares job sites for projects and repairs, assembles and organizes equipment, tools, and materials Completing preventative maintenance work orders using the CMMS in addition to creating work orders and documenting time, equipment and materials Operates equipment such as scissor lifts, forklifts, backhoes, skid steers, boats, UTV', etc. Performs additional duties as assigned based on departmental needs Responds to emergency repairs as needed due to inclement weather or other emergency-related events Typical Qualifications Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and three years of maintenance experience OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Additional Information Knowledge of: Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work Business math concepts Filing and record-keeping principles Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices Uses and properties of supplies and equipment Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, and regulations Customer service principles Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment Skill In: Conducting inspections, equipment testing and providing preventative maintenance.
