Job description

Overview
The Plant Maintenance Repairman is a non-skilled position responsible for performing a variety of duties for the inside and outside of buildings and maintenance on the grounds of the hospital.
Responsibilities
Performs mechanical tasks related to installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and related equipment.
Assures that equipment is operating in accordance with manufacturers specifications.
Completes preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
Selects stock, tools and supplies for assigned tasks.
Loads and unloads stock, tools, and supplies from vehicles and stores them in assigned locations.
Reads diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturers specifications to accomplish assigned tasks.
Completes sections of service requests, work requests, and/or projects forms as directed.
May repair and maintain lawn and snow moving equipment and operate same.
May perform tasks that include installation and repair of ceiling, floor tile, and base.
May relieve the plant operating engineer when needed after completing proper training and instructions.
May be assigned a specific activity to assist, or may be working toward a formal apprenticeship with any one of the following: Plumber, Carpenter, Painter, Electrician, Refrigeration Mechanic, Elevator Mechanic, or Plant Operating Engineer.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess physical abilities to endure standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling; exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Qualifications
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license and drive vehicles as required.
Must be able to operate all lawn and garden equipment.
Three (3) months on-the-job training would be required to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
