GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Plant Operations Supervisor in coordination with the Plant Operations Director manages the day-to-day facility operations of the Health Center ensuring the health and safety of the residents, staff and visitors. The Plant Operations Supervisor works in accordance with established policies and procedures and/or specific instructions from the Plant Operations Director to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and regulatory agencies. Assists with development of department budget. Participates in the manager on duty program and may be assigned special projects.

JOB DUTIES:

Building Operations, Safety and Compliance:

  • Responsible for performing, coordinating, and supervising all aspects of preventive maintenance to protect and maintain the building, equipment and facilities in a safe, efficient, cost effective and expedient manner.

  • Directly responsible for maintenance or coordination and supervision of vendors to comply with life safety codes and critical equipment.

  • Maintains HVAC and electrical systems.

  • Performs general maintenance, plumbing work, electrical and appliance repairs.

  • Maintain all tools, equipment, and supplies in proper condition.

  • Maintain the operation of emergency medical and power generating equipment according to current CDPH and other regulatory guidelines.

  • Conducts daily, monthly, quarterly room and building rounds.

  • Advises and consults with the Plant Operations Director along with the Administrator for repairs needed concerning structure, equipment and grounds.

Management:

  • Trains, evaluates and supports plant personnel when required.

  • Schedule training and participate in monthly annual fire and disaster drills.

  • Prepare and implement regulatory plans of correction as needed.

  • Responsible for plant supply procurement within budgetary requirements unless approved by Administrator.

  • May perform other related duties as delegated by the Director of Plant Operations and/or Administrator.

  • Strong organizational skills required to maintain proper documentation and track inventory levels in Plant Operations electronic work order platform. Ensure parts on hand to complete work requests timely according to facility protocols.

  • Maintains and works with management to implement new work standards, policies, procedures, methods, and best practices.

  • In coordination with the Plant Operations Director, ensures the sound fiscal operation of the facility that includes contributing to the development and monitoring of the operating budget.

  • Adheres to best practices and protocols of Company.

  • Works in cooperation with the Plant Operations Director to expand networks with local and public organizations.

  • Other duties as assigned by Director or Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a passion for providing excellent customer service, servant leader.

  • Proficient in the knowledge of Life Safety Codes, CMS, CDPH, OSHA, DSS regulations.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in plant engineering and/or trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, refrigeration, ground maintenance, masonry and maintenance.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in nursing facility, healthcare operations preferred.

  • Supervisory and budgeting experience preferred.

  • Strong organizational, computer, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Legally Authorized to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Moderate to heavy physical effort throughout the workday. Must be able to walk, stand and stoop for up to 80% of the workday. May be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain); work in area with high voltage electricity, hazardous equipment and moving parts; and work on roof tops and other high places. Must be able to set up and climb ladders safely with tools and equipment necessary for assigned work. Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. When lifting loads over 50 lbs., use two or more people. It is your responsibility to ask for assistance. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment generally weighing up to 300 lbs. May be exposed to communicable diseases including HIV and Hepatitis B viruses; industrial and household chemicals; and offensive odors.
