The Opportunity:
The Outage Coordinator owns the process for routine and planned outage scheduling and coordination including external electrical and mechanical contractor resources to support 3 paper machines, a steam plant, and water treatment for the Solvay paper mill.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Responsible for the routine outage scheduling and coordination of the mill including external electrical and mechanical contractor resources to support 3 paper machines, a steam plant, and water treatment.
  • Responsible for the overall success of the planning function, including length of time for repair and cost estimate of labor, material and outside services.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date backlog and status to support the scheduling process.
  • Visit job sites daily of new maintenance work requests.
  • Write a "job package" for each planned job providing details for sequence of work, LOTO, permits and prep work required, tools and materials needed for job.
  • Communicate effectively with coordinators, BUL's, BUS's and Technicians involved in the planned job.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with maintenance and production leadership in response to maintenance work order requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders active and completed.
  • Work with the storeroom to make sure supplies are available for planned jobs.
  • Complete requisitions and purchase orders as needed for planned jobs.
  • Using input from work orders and Maintenance Coordinator to create daily/weekly schedules for planned maintenance jobs.
  • Facilitate weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Update equipment and task history files daily in the computer.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement that yield a more efficient work process.
  • As needed, supervise outside contractors.
  • Other duties as required.

What you need to succeed:
  • High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience as a Maintenance Craftsman or Maintenance Planner.
  • Experienced and proficient with computer skills.
  • Experience with an automated maintenance management system.
  • Ability to read detailed equipment drawings, identify part numbers and specifications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and involve maintenance technicians in planning and scheduling process.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate activities with managers from multiple departments.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials needed to accomplish a task.
  • Dedication to safety.
  • Organized and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Preferred experience: working with an asset management system. ISO experience. JD Edwards software experience.

The salary range for this position is $108,750.00 - $181,250.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
