Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries in Essex, VT is seeking a Central Utility Plant Technician to operate and perform planned and corrective maintenance on a variety of systems supporting site heating and cooling. This Technician will work a 5/2 schedule (M-F, 1st shift), working rotational weekend / holiday times as needed. This role will be fully on site at our 200mm Semiconductor manufacturing facility in Essex Junction, VT.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Systems
  • Perform Mechanical System maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure proper system operations
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks
  • Provide line support to customers in manufacturing, offices, or labs, and assistance with equipment installs / upgrade projects
  • Work Areas include but are not limited to: Building Maintenance, Gas Services, High Voltage/Electrical, Chemical Operations
  • Ensure high emphasis on safety, equipment reliability, and environmental rules and regulations
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a focus on customer satisfaction

Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and associated programs
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager

Required Qualifications:
  • Education - High School Degree or equivalent
  • Experience - minimum 3-4 years' relevant experience with mechanical systems
  • Experience in one or all of the following areas: Boiler, High Temp Hot Water, Chillers, Compressed Air
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills / technical aptitude
  • Ability to pay attention to details and maintain equipment efficiently without impacting system operation
  • Familiarity with computers, fluent in Microsoft 365 programs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Travel: minimal
  • Fluency in English language (both written and verbal)
  • Physical Capacity Demands: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., standing / walking up to 8 hours at a time, wearing personal protective equipment as required for designated tasks
  • Scheduling flexibility as occasional weekend coverage will be required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Mechanical / Electrical Systems operations and maintenance
  • Associates degree in a HVAC or electronics/mechanical field
  • Industrial / Commercial System experience
  • Understanding of system design parameters, safety / environmental shutdown scenarios, and electronic control of equipment
  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning & organizational skills

Expected Salary Range
$43,100.00 - $70,600.00
