Job description

The Retail Clerk for the 66 Pit Stop is a non-exempt position responsible for providing excellent customer service while ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient store operation. In this role, employees greet customers, communicate specials and promotions, assist with locating merchandise, and build guest loyalty through friendly, professional interactions. Retail Clerks operate the point-of-sale system and cash register by processing cash, checks, and bank card transactions; maintaining accurate cash drawers; calculating discounts; verifying identification for age-restricted purchases such as tobacco and lottery products; issuing receipts; balancing registers; and documenting discrepancies. Additional customer service responsibilities include maintaining beverage stations, brewing coffee, replenishing condiments, providing information about promotions and special events, and ensuring guests receive prompt and courteous service. Employees are expected to uphold Laguna Development Corporation’s Core Values, policies, and procedures, serve as positive role models, maintain respectful relationships with customers and coworkers, demonstrate teamwork, assist in training new clerks, and consistently report to work on time, including weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as needed.

The position also requires stocking and rotating merchandise, keeping displays clean and organized, promoting products to increase sales, and performing extensive custodial duties, including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, shelves, windows, pumps, break areas, and parking lots, as well as removing trash. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years of age, possess basic arithmetic and computer skills, and be proficient in operating a cash register; prior cashiering, custodial, or related work experience is preferred. The role requires compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining professional relationships with coworkers, vendors, and the public, and performing additional duties as assigned. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive hand use, along with the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and transfer up to 50 pounds. Mental demands include organizing, planning, decision-making, reading, and writing. The work is performed primarily indoors with exposure to fumes such as cigarette smoke and fuel. Employment requirements include passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, successfully completing a background check, and obtaining and maintaining ServSafe Certification.
