Job description

At AstraZeneca, we pride ourselves on crafting a collaborative culture that champions knowledge-sharing, ambitious thinking and innovation - ultimately providing employees with the opportunity to work across teams, functions and even the globe.

Recognizing the importance of individualized flexibility, our ways of working allow employees to balance personal and work commitments while ensuring we continue to create a strong culture of collaboration and teamwork by engaging face-to-face in our offices 3 days a week.

Our dedication to sustainability is also central to our culture and part of what makes AstraZeneca a great place to work. We know the health of people, the planet and our business are interconnected which is why we're taking ambitious action to tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time, from climate change to access to healthcare and disease prevention.

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to turn complex patient support data into conclusive actions that expand access and improve experiences? How would you connect signals across programs, vendors, and digital touchpoints to reveal what truly drives outcomes for consumers, healthcare providers, and patients?

As Associate Director, Capabilities and Partnerships, you will serve as the connective tissue between performance intelligence and business decisions across the US Patient Support ecosystem. Reporting to the Director, Patient Services Capabilities, Performance & Digital Experience, you will translate fragmented data into clear insight, shape capability strategy inside and outside the company, and help leaders prioritize investments that deliver the greatest value to patient access. This role is based in Gaithersburg or Wilmington and flourishes with in-person collaboration several days each week to accelerate learning and impact.

Your work will move the organization beyond a vendor-by-vendor view to a true ecosystem perspective. By tying together data across programs and services, you will illuminate which interventions sustain, scale or rethink, and how they interact across the full journey. You will champion sophisticated analytics and AI to measure what matters, strengthen governance of secure data, and ensure insights directly advise brand, consumer, and patient strategies.

Accountabilities:
  • Performance Intelligence Strategy: Connect data across patient support, vendor performance, and digital experience to generate actionable insight that links Consumer, HCP, and Patient journeys and informs where to focus for the highest access impact.

  • Ecosystem Measurement: Shift measurement from isolated vendor metrics to portfolio-level performance; evaluate how programs interact and which deliver outsized outcomes so leaders can sustain, scale, or reconsider investments. Strategic

  • Reporting and Analytics: Lead the design and evolution of dashboards, scorecards, and performance frameworks that explain what changed, why it matters, and what to do next at program, brand, and ecosystem levels.

  • Capability Scouting and Build: Identify gaps in data and analytics; source or engage internal and external capabilities and vendors to integrate data and build the right solutions.

  • AI-Driven Insight: Leverage AI and sophisticated analytics to synthesize cross-ecosystem signals; actively scout emerging AI capabilities that elevate performance measurement and decision quality.

  • Vendor and Partnership Leadership: Handle and coordinate select vendor relationships; partner across the Capabilities & Vendor Partnerships team on strategy, performance, and delivery within a complex vendor ecosystem.

  • Business and Data Proficiency: Apply strong commercial foresight and pharma-specific data expertise to interpret performance signals and connect patient support programs to strategic brand and consumer outcomes.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Brand Engagement, Direct-to-Consumer, Patient Support Operations, Field Reimbursement, Commercial IT, Legal/Compliance, and Omnichannel teams to drive initiatives that advance HCP and patient access goals.

  • Data Stewardship and Compliance: Uphold data guardrails and ensure compliant sharing practices; adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies governing patient support and access programs.

Essential Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in general business, health sciences, managed healthcare, public policy or related subject areas

  • 6 years of related work experience supporting / handling access and reimbursement support programs for brands in the specialty pharmaceutical space.

  • Strong reporting and analytics capability, with the ability to work with data specific to pharma and turn it into strategic business drivers that enable leadership decisions.

  • Ability to think at the ecosystem level, connecting data across vendors, programs and services to assess overall brand and portfolio performance rather than evaluating vendors in isolation.

  • Comfort using AI and advanced analytics tools to synthesize data and generate insight, with the curiosity to scout for emerging AI capabilities in line with AstraZeneca's data-driven, digitally enabled vision.

  • Ability to tell a story, connecting complex data to the Consumer, HCP, and Patient journeys and how patient support services come together to shape the patient experience.

  • Strong business insight and a capability approach, with the curiosity to scan for solutions inside and outside AstraZeneca.

  • Experience in vendor management and project management, with the ability to both partner with and handle vendors across a complex ecosystem.

  • Follow all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of AstraZeneca's activities related to copay programs.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding goals and objectives.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively.

  • Business travel, by air or car, may be required for regular internal and external business meetings.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $147,017.60 to $220,526.40.Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives-an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.

Why AstraZeneca:
Here you will help make innovative medicines accessible to more people by connecting insights to action across the healthcare landscape. We bring diverse experts together to spark bold thinking, pairing cutting-edge analytics and AI with deep knowledge of patient journeys and payer dynamics. You will have the autonomy to run with ideas and the support of collaborative partners across functions, gaining visibility as you shape how performance is measured and how access decisions are made. We value kindness alongside ambition, and we rally around a shared purpose: turning science into better outcomes for patients while building sustainable access for the future.

Call to Action:
If you are ready to transform performance intelligence into real-world access and outcomes, take the next step and help us shape the future of patient support today!
