Summary:

The Lead Mill Operator plays a critical role in supporting custom timber and hardwood orders by safely and efficiently operating and setting up a variety of woodworking machines. This role is ideal for an experienced mill professional who values quality, safety, and teamwork while helping train others and maintain high operational standards.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Operate and set up woodworking machinery, including:
    • 24” horizontal timber re-saw
    • 24” four-sided planer
    • Straight line hardwood rip saw
    • Newman hardwood planer
  • Read and interpret tape measures accurately to meet order specifications.
  • Inspect outbound orders to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Perform routine equipment checks, maintain machinery, and report maintenance or repair needs to the Mill Manager.
  • Assist with training and coaching other team members on resaw and planer operations.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and safe equipment operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support mill operations.

The fixed rate is $24.32 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
