At Joseph's Classic Market, our Pizza Maker / Kitchen Prep Cook supports both our in-store Pizzeria and Kitchen, helping prepare the fresh, high-quality foods our customers love. From handcrafting New York-style pizzas and calzones to preparing proteins, vegetables, and other gourmet menu items, this role plays an important part in delivering the quality, freshness, and presentation our customers expect.

This is a versatile position for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a collaborative kitchen environment.

As a Pizza Maker / Kitchen Prep Cook, you'll build experience in multiple areas of food production while strengthening your culinary skills, food safety knowledge, and efficiency in a high-volume environment. Routine Tasks:

  • Provide excellent customer service by offering product knowledge, answering questions, and making personalized suggestions
  • Prepare pizza pies, calzones, garlic knots, and other pizza items according to Joseph’s recipes and quality standards
  • Prepare proteins, vegetables, starches, sauces, and other Kitchen menu items following Joseph's recipes and production standards
  • Plate, package, and present products to meet Joseph’s quality and appearance standards
  • Maintain product freshness through proper rotation and quality checks
  • Replenish, rotate, and maintain products and display cases
  • Accurately package, label, and price self-service items
  • Answer phone calls and accurately take and prepare customer orders
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols at all times
  • Safely operate pizza ovens, stoves, grills, slicers, knives, scales, wrapping machines, and other Kitchen and Pizza equipment safely
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior pizza preparation or kitchen food preparation experience required
  • Food safety knowledge or ServSafe certification is s plus
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
  • Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • A passion for serving people and creating quality food

Physical & Work Environment

A Pizza Maker / Kitchen Prep Cook works in both the Pizza and Kitchen departments, moving between production areas as business needs require. This role involves standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and moving products weighing up to 80 pounds, and working around ovens, grills, preparation areas, and refrigerated coolers. Team members should be comfortable working in varying temperatures while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace. The position requires frequent interaction with customers and fellow team members in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
