What is a pivot?

A 'Pivot' job generally refers to a role or position that allows an individual to transition from one career path or industry to another. This type of job is often taken by people looking to change careers, acquire new skills, or move into a different field. Pivot jobs can help you leverage your existing experience while gaining exposure to new industries or functions, making the career switch smoother and less risky. They are particularly useful for professionals seeking growth, new challenges, or better alignment with personal interests and values.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with pivot tables in data analysis roles?

One common challenge when working with Pivot Tables is managing large and complex datasets, which can sometimes lead to performance issues or difficulty in maintaining data accuracy. Collaborating with team members often requires clear communication about data sources and consistent formatting to ensure everyone interprets the analysis correctly. Additionally, adapting Pivot Table reports to meet evolving business needs can require frequent updates and a strong grasp of both Excel functions and business objectives. Staying up-to-date with new features and best practices can help professionals overcome these challenges and deliver meaningful insights.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pivot (data analyst), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pivot (Data Analyst), you need strong analytical skills, data literacy, and typically a degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related field. Proficiency with data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel (including PivotTables), SQL, and visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI is essential. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help analysts turn complex data into actionable insights. These skills are crucial for driving data-informed decisions and adding value to organizations through meaningful data interpretation.

What is the difference between Pivot vs Data Analyst?

Skills & CertificationsExcel, data management, basic analyticsExcel, SQL, statistical tools, data visualization
Work EnvironmentOffice, primarily using Excel or similar toolsOffice, using analytics software and databases

While both Pivot and Data Analyst roles involve working with data, Pivot primarily focuses on creating pivot tables for data summarization within Excel. Data Analysts perform broader data analysis, including interpreting data trends and generating reports. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job focus.

Job Description: Marketing Director - Field Marketing

Location: Phoenix, AZ (In-Office/Local Field Engagement)

Pay Range: 120k-130k plus bonus

Position Overview

Parker & Sons is seeking a sharp, data-driven, and community-minded Field Marketing Manager focused on Local Marketing. This role is built for a direct-response marketing expert who understands how to dominate a local market. You will own our hyper-local digital footprint—with a heavy emphasis on Google Local Services Ads (LSA)—while seamlessly community development and local public relations to drive immediate phone calls and bookings.

The ideal candidate thrives on measuring cost-per-lead, optimizing localized ad spend, and building strong, visible relationships within the Phoenix/Mesa/Glendale community.

Key Responsibilities1. Hyper-Local Digital & LSA Management
  • Local Paid Search: Manage and optimize Google Local Services Ads (LSA) and local paid search presence to maximize high-intent local lead generation.
  • Lead Flow Monitoring: Actively track LSA reviews, responsiveness metrics, and budget pacing to maintain top-tier ad rankings and a low cost-per-lead (CPL).
  • Local SEO Integration: Partner with the digital team to ensure local landing pages, Google Business Profiles, and geographic keyword strategies align with physical promotions.
2. Integrated Traditional Media & Direct Response
  • Direct Response Focus: Ensure all traditional creative assets have clear, measurable calls-to-action (CTAs) tailored to regional customer demographics.
  • Data-Driven Evaluation: Continuously analyze the performance of traditional media runs, cross-referencing spikes in call volumes and web traffic against media schedules.
3. Community Engagement & Public Relations
  • Grassroots Community Presence: Identify, coordinate, and execute local community events, sponsorships, and partnerships that embed the brand into the local fabric.
  • Public Relations & Earned Media: Draft local press releases, manage relationships with local news outlets, and pitch compelling community stories to secure earned media coverage.
  • Crisis & Reputation Support: Monitor local sentiment and assist in managing local public relations inquiries or community-level brand escalations.
4. Budgeting, Analytics & Tech Integration
  • P&L & Budget Management: Manage the local marketing and PR budget efficiently, ensuring all projects deliver on-time, within budget, and achieve defined ROI targets.
  • CRM & Field Software Utilization: Utilize ServiceTitan and marketing automation tools to track incoming leads from specific local campaigns straight through to completed service calls.
  • Executive Reporting: Build and present clear performance dashboards detailing campaign spend, lead attribution, and local market share growth.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience: 4–7 years of experience managing local direct-response marketing, local digital platforms (Google LSA/GBP), and traditional media placement. Home services, retail, or franchise marketing experience is highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep familiarity with Google Local Services Ads platform, ServiceTitan (or equivalent field services CRM), Adobe Creative Suites, Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), and PowerPoint.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or equivalent professional field experience.
  • Compliance: Must pass a pre-employment background check.

Core Competencies
  • The Hybrid Marketer: Ability to pivot effortlessly between managing technical digital platforms (LSA) and speaking publicly at a local charity event or media briefing.
  • Analytical Mindset: Obsessed with tracking numbers, matching call tracking metrics to media drops, and protecting the bottom line.
  • Project Management: Exceptional organizational skills to handle multiple moving parts—from printing thousands of direct mailers to locking in a TV ad spot.
