DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced Cook/Pit Master to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality barbecue and grilled items, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to a positive team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation & Cooking
• Operate and maintain open pit Barbeque and other cooking equipment
• Prepare meats using specific barbecue techniques including grilling.
• Monitor cooking temperatures and times to ensure food safety and quality
• Prepare sides, sauces, and accompaniments according to recipes and specifications
• Maintain consistent food quality and presentation standards
Food Safety & Sanitation
• Follow all food safety protocols and health department regulations
• Maintain proper food storage temperatures and rotation procedures
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils regularly
• Complete daily temperature logs and food safety checklists
Kitchen Operations
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
• Handle prep work during slower periods
• Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure timely service
• Maintain organized and efficient workspace
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 2+ years cooking experience, preferably in barbecue/grilling
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper cooking temperatures
• Ability to work in hot, fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards
• Reliable and punctual attendance
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
Preferred
• Open pit barbecue experience
• Knowledge of different barbeque techniques
• Previous experience with large-volume food preparation
• Food safety certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to stand for 8+ hours
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of supplies and equipment
• Work in high-temperature environment near open pit barbeque
• Manual dexterity for food preparation and equipment operation
SCHEDULE
• 8:30am to 5:00pm Wednesday through Sunday
