They are responsible for managing dealers, ensuring fair play, maintaining security, and resolving disputes between players and staff. Oil Change Technician

Take 5 Oil Change Utah

Layton, UT โ€ข On-site

Job description

No experience needed. Paid training. $15–$23/hr plus tips, paid every week.

Never changed oil? Doesn't matter. We'll teach you. If you like talking to people and don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, you can be good at this job in your first month.

The short version

  • $15–$23/hr depending on experience and certifications, paid every week, plus tips and weekly bonuses
  • Raises you control: +$1/hr after Take 5 certification (about 45 days in), +$2/hr after your county emissions certification (about 90 days in). We pay for both.
  • Full-time and part-time
  • Free oil changes for your car
  • Paid training, paid holidays, paid time off, 401(k), and a monthly healthcare stipend
  • Four shops in the Ogden area, with Syracuse and Cedar City opening at the end of the year. And Take 5 has locations across the country. Moving? Your job can move with you. We've done it plenty of times.

What the job actually is

You're a Service Technician at Take 5 Oil Change. Customers stay in their car. You greet them, help them pick the right oil, do the service in a few minutes, and send them on their way. It's fast, friendly service, closer to a good restaurant than a repair shop. Most people who do well here came from food service, retail, or no job at all, not from auto shops.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Talk with customers and help them choose oil and services
  • Drain oil and swap filters
  • Check tire pressure, top off fluids, wash windshields
  • Do coolant exchanges (once you're trained)
  • Run county emissions tests (once you're certified and earning that extra $2/hr)
  • Ring up customers
  • Keep the shop stocked and clean, bathroom included

Where this can go

Every one of our shop managers started in the pit, and every one of them got there in the last couple of years. If you want to move up, we'll show you the path. If you just want a solid job that pays weekly, that works too.

Real talk about the work

  • The first couple weeks feel like studying for a test. You need to actually know the oils and services, and we'll help you get there.
  • You'll be climbing in and out of a 3-foot pit under cars all day.
  • It's physical: standing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • The shop is open to the weather. Summers are hot, winters are cold.
  • You'll be working around moving cars, so people who pay attention do well here.
  • Some weekend shifts are required. Saturdays are our busiest days, and everyone takes a turn.
  • You'll need reliable transportation to and from work.

What you'll walk away with

  • Take 5 technician certification
  • County emissions inspector certification
  • Real customer service skills
  • Enough auto knowledge to never get ripped off on your own car again

Details

  • Job types: Full-time, Part-time
  • Schedule: Flexible, day and evening shifts, some weekends required
  • Tools and uniforms provided
  • Free parking
  • People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
  • Work location: In person
