Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery next year. The candidate will act as the Piping Field Superintendent on the CCGT Project in Pecos, Texas. The candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

The Piping Field Superintendent provides onsite leadership for mechanical construction activities primarily focused on the project’s T350s, ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs craft labor and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance. Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, the Field Superintendent resolves constructability issues, supports the development of work scopes, and ensures effective use of automation tools and project procedures. The position plays a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution. #LI-SP1

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership / Supervision

  • Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.  
  • Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft. 

Planning / Productivity 

  • Determines workforce requirements. 
  • Coordinates established area operational plans.  

Tools, Materials & Equipment 

  • Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.  
  • Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.  

Safety & Quality 

  • Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.  
  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.   

Technical 

  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents 
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals. 
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Previous experience delivering a combined cycle power plant as Field Superintendent.
  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
  • Oversees the preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
  • Inspects installed components for technical acceptance.
  • Oversees the development of Commodity Installation means and methods.
  • Implements understanding of industry / International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
  • Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
  • A thorough knowledge of Section 1 and B31.1 codes.
  • Competent in supervising heavy lift activities.
  • A thorough knowledge of welding, including the latest technologies and NDE methods
  • A strong background in union craft management and understanding of the project labor agreement.
