Piping Construction Superintendent Position Summary

The Piping Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all piping related activities and coordinating piping subcontractor activities. Specific responsibility for utility piping, underground piping, cooling towers, sand filters, process piping, hydraulic systems, fire suppression, etc. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.

Piping Construction Superintendent Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will require field supervision of construction.
  • Assume overall responsibilities for project execution of assigned projects.
  • Must promote, enforce and establish safety as a priority.
  • Initiate, establish, and maintain working relationships with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to facilitate construction activities and progress.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate piping activities to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, or other regulations.
  • Review change orders requests for validity and assist in review for presentation to owner.
  • May be responsible for quoting new work by preparing detailed job bids.
  • Responsible for reporting productivity and activities to the project management team.
  • Review and approve subcontractor billings to the client, as well as manage client payables.
  • Organize and manage all aspects of client interaction and communication.
  • Manage project closeout process.
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Piping Construction Superintendent Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years' experience as a manager of piping related projects. Specific experience in installation of Steel or Aluminum process equipment is desired. Good oral communication skills. Must be knowledgeable of the company safety policy and familiar and willing to comply with the Quality Control program. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Primavera Scheduling software is a plus.

Piping Construction Superintendent Physical Demands

Overtime is required routinely.  Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds occasionally.  Must have the ability to stand/walk frequently.  This position is full-time onsite, which may require temporary travel for extended periods of time. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
