Description

Located at the Inter Pipeline Calgary downtown office, the Integrity Engineer will report to the Supervisor, Integrity Engineering as part of the Engineering group in the Transportation Business Unit. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and highly skilled team that plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operation of Inter Pipeline's assets. The successful candidate will work with Engineers, Technologists and Project Managers in the Integrity Engineering and Integrity Projects teams, gaining exposure to a broad range of integrity management activities while contributing to meaningful projects that support operational excellence and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate is an independent individual focused on continuous improvement to support the reduction in the number and severity of safety and environmental related incidents towards a goal of zero incidents across Inter Pipeline's Canadian pipeline assets.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Ensure completeness and quality of cathodic protection data collection and analysis, including annual surveys, commissioning surveys, remote monitoring, close interval potential surveys, deficiency tracking and mitigation
Perform technical reviews of field-gathered pipeline integrity data, and generate recommendations to the External Corrosion, ILI Assessment and Risk programs based on technical expertise and experience
Ensure all cathodic protection systems and their components are functioning as designed and meet compliance with regulations and internal standards
Assist in the design of cathodic protection systems and their components
Assist in the development of long range plans to monitor and improve effectiveness of cathodic protection and coatings programs
Coordinate and manage coating testing, application and remediation projects
Conduct quality assurance checks on incoming reports and datasets
Compile data and information to perform engineering assessments for changes in pipeline operation and status
Support audits and incident investigations
Assist in data gathering, reporting and interpretation for regular information requests
Assist in assessing in-line inspection reports to determine verification and repair projects to confirm the integrity of pipeline segments

Education, Skills and Experience

Engineering degree (Metallurgical, Mechanical or Electrical preferred) and registration with APEGA
Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer is required
AMPP CP1/CP2 and/or AMPP CIP 1 certification is considered an asset
2-4 years of related integrity management experience in the pipeline oil and gas business
Familiarity with pipeline integrity threat assessment and management, risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation strategies
Familiarity with applicable rules, regulations and industry standards as they relate to integrity management and external corrosion prevention (i.e., AER, MER, CER, CSA, AMPP, ISO, etc.)
Experience in pipeline operations is considered an asset
Possess a strong ability to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities and changing business conditions
Must have a good working knowledge of applicable rules, regulations and industry standards
