Job Overview:Position Summary:The Instrumentation & Controls Designer is responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models using software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx Structure, and Electrical Design Suite. This role requires the ability to work with minimal supervision from lead designers and/or engineers while efficiently managing assigned tasks. The I&C Designer is expected to have a thorough understanding of processes, workflows, and NEC Codes for developing comprehensive construction packages, including drafting, modeling, performing quality checks, and ensuring compliance with project standards and specifications.In addition to producing high-quality deliverables, the Designer will collaborate effectively with the project team to meet deadlines and address any challenges or discrepancies that may arise during the design process. Under the supervision of engineering, the Designer will interpret and refine concepts and sketches into construction drawings, while also delegating drafting or modeling tasks to Instrumentation & Controls Designers as needed.Responsibilities:Advanced skillsets in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, CADWorx Structure, Electrical Design SuiteParticipate in site visits as required to verify as-built conditions or gather field dataTake ownership of assigned projects or tasks, ensuring timely and high-qualityAssist lead designer in the review and markup stages of all applicable vendor drawings, ensuring critical information is presented, clear and adequate for constructability impact vendor drawings align with design models and drawingsProficient with conduit fill, cable tray fill, and voltage drop/cable sizing/de-ratingEfficiently produce Electrical Conduit & Cable schedules using Microsoft ExcelEfficiently produce detailed 2D deliverables for general drawings, typical/standard drawings, block diagrams, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, plan drawings, and loop diagrams using applicable softwareProduce instrument location plans using 3D external reference models, using applicableDevelop 3D complex models of cable tray systems, conduit routing, and all associated electrical equipment using CADWorx Structure and Electrical Design SuiteAssist Lead designer with generating and maintaining l/O listPerform quantity take-offs from modelsEnsure drawings and models adhere to project specifications, industry, client/internal standards, and encompass SOWPreparing deliverables for client submissionsPerform thorough quality checks of own work and the work of I&C Designers before submission to ensure they meet quality standardsMaintain records of revisions and markups through duration of projectDelegate tasks to CAD Designers, manages their own tasks, and supports the LeadDesigner in coordinating the overall workflowServe as a resource for CAD Designers, providing mentorship and support as neededBe familiar with internal, client, and industry standards such as NEC, NEMA, API 500,Maintain consistency in drafting output and ensure all files are organized according to data management protocolsWork closely with leads, E&I engineers and other disciplines to ensure models and design packages meet project goals, are all cohesively integrated, and are in support of meeting deadlines across all disciplinesParticipate in internal project meetings as required by the discipline leadManage on-demand tasks as assigned by the lead and communicate any potential impacts on other tasksAddress design challenges, discrepancies, or missing information in coordination with the project teamCross train into electrical philosophy, standards, and specificationsQualifications:5–10+ years of Instrumentation & Controls or Electrical Design experience.Experience creating construction drawing packages.Experience performing field verification/site visits.Experience coordinating with engineers and multiple disciplines.Experience reviewing vendor drawings.Experience mentoring junior CAD designers.Experience working with industrial facility projects.Strong attention to detailProblem-solving abilitiesAssociate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field; orTechnical/vocational training in CAD and electrical design; orEquivalent industry experience in Instrumentation & Controls design.Benefits:Paid Company HolidaysPaid PTOMedical, Dental, Vision, FSA/HSA, Short Term/Long Term Disability, 401K with matching contribution.Company Overview:Primoris was formed in 2004 as the parent company and is traded on the NYSE under the symbol PRIM.
